| OVERVIEW |
The Student Affairs Office offers a variety of services to students and facilitates their co-curricular activities. Overseen by a Dean, this office functions as the friend and guide of a student, administering to his needs from the time he makes the first inquiry regarding admission to the Institute to the time he graduates from it.
An important function of this office is to promote extra-curricular activities amongst the students, provide them healthy outlets in sports and games, furnish them forums for cultivation of literary and artistic potentialities and make their stay on the campus a rich experience of multi-dimensional growth.
A Freshmen Coordinator assists students through a comprehensive tutorial set-up which involves assignment of each student to an advisor – faculty member. The advisor holds regular meetings of his wards, both formal and informal, and keeps him informed about their academic progress and general welfare. A student can benefit from his guidance in selecting courses for a semester and the overall management of his studies.
| COUNSELING SERVICES |
The Student Affairs Office has on its staff a full-time Director Student Affairs, who is readily available to students for sorting out problems which they encounter while being on the campus. The students are encouraged to have recourse to him for counseling and guidance on all problems whether personal, social or academic. Efforts are made to ensure for students a life free from worries and distractions, to help them learn to manage their affairs on their own and to cope with strains and stresses which are a part of the growth processes.
| CAREER ADVISORY SERVICE |
The Careers Office helps students in exploring employment opportunities that match their abilities and in making informed career choices. For this purpose, it offers a variety of services and facilities. It organizes workshops and advisory sessions to promote skills needed for interpersonal self presentation, management of interviews, and preparing effective CVs. The faculty coordinator makes himself available to the students to discuss issues relating to the planning and development of their careers. The office encourages employers to visit the Institute and conduct their recruitment tests and interviews on the campus. It maintains a library of literature of some organizations which are the future employers of the graduates. It also helps students to have access to computers, fax, and photocopying machines when they need them.

The website of the institute is rated amongst the top education-sector websites in Pakistan [ref. Spider]. The website features state-of-the-art technology including a virtual tour of the campus, online admission facility, automated faculty web-profiling system and digital map of GIK Institute.
| OPEN HOUSE& CAREER FAIR |
An Open House & Career Fair is organized at the GIK Institute Campus every year. Its objective is to invite senior representatives from the industry to visit the Institute, have a view of the facilities and first hand information on the Institute’s academic and research activities. It also provides a forum for faculty members and senior management from the industry to exchange views and discuss matters of mutual interest, such as, sponsoring research projects and reviewing the academic curricula to meet the needs of industry. Another important aspect of the Open House & Career Fair is the employment for our graduating students. The Open House & Career Fair provides an excellent opportunity for the prospective employers to judge the caliber of the graduating engineers through discussions and interviews. Poster presentations of senior year projects are also held in conjunction with the Open House & Career Fair in which the students have an opportunity to display their projects to the representatives of industry and GIKI community.
