Team Toyota Hammerhead ARC from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, Pakistan, participated in a global competition Shell Eco Marathon Asia 2017 and secured 6th position in the Prototype category.
For the last seven years, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI) has made the country proud in Shell Eco-marathon by gaining recognition in different domains pertaining to design, manufacturing, and communication. This year, team Toyota Hammerhead was able to uphold the legacy of the predecessors.
Team Toyota Hammerhead Arc secured 6th position in Prototype Category at an international competition, Shell Eco Marathon Asia 2017. The team surpassed many countries like Japan, India, Malaysia, Singapore, and Korea. The hard work of our engineers was rewarded when a mileage of 311.2 (km/kWh) was recorded. The team captain and the team manager were interviewed by many news channels at SEM’17, and their interviews were selected to be broadcasted on national television.
From all the teams in Pakistan, Team Toyota Hammerhead was the only team to clear the Technical and safety inspection at first attempt. The Shell supervisors appreciated the design and safety measures. Of all the teams, Team Toyota Hammerhead was selected to represent Pakistan at the Flag-off ceremony that took place. It was a proud moment for the team to hold the flag of Pakistan amongst the top countries in Asia. Team Hammerhead circuit was given appreciation by the technical inspectors at SEM, 2017. Our engineers designed the controller and hard work paid off. Our design was remarked as ‘sleek and streamlined’ by one of the professors in Singapore at SEM’17.
