- Billing
The expenses of accommodation are included in the tuition fees itself. Other overhead expenses such as electricity bill*, newspaper charges and the like are included in the mess bill on monthly basis.
* Each student is alloted 93 units per month in Summer and 61 units per month in Winter. An electricity bill is charged only if the total electricity consumption is higher than the total free units for all the students in the hostel.
- Hostels
Freshmen students are accomodated in the shared hostels. All other students are given separate rooms with attached bathrooms in other hostels. There are total six boys hostels with solitary accomodation and one such hostel for girls. Each of these hostels is equipped with fully furnished rooms, a splendid dining hall, and a spacious common room. The rooms are also centrally heated and running hot water is available during winter. Each hostel houses a resident warden to oversee the activities of students and to maintain discipline in the hostel.
- Parents Lodge
In view of the difficulties faced by the visiting parents/guardians for overnight stay, a Parents Lodge has been setup near the students' hostels. It is a five-room fully furnished and air-conditioned accommodation with a small kitchen and a common room-cum-dining hall. This accommodation is available to parents and guardians on first-come-first-serve basis on reasonable charges. Efforts are made to make their stay as comfortable as possible.
- Security
GIKI is one of the safest places in the country. It has its own security guards' team and is well barricaded. GIKI is a world of its own; and has peaceful conditions irrespective of the political conditions in the country.
- Shared Hostels
There are two shared hostels. Freshmen students are allocated shared rooms in the shared hostels. Two students share a well-furnished and spacious room, and the washroom is in turn shared by the occupants of two adjacent rooms.
