The 14th Convocation of the Institute is confirmed to be held on Wednesday
June 02, 2010 Inshallah.
As instructed earlier, please submit Guest Nomination Form before May 24,

| GIKI Mathematics Society established |
GIKI Mathematics Society (GMS) has been approved and registered as a GIK Institute Student Society.
GMS aims to not only encourage the study of Mathematics but also to develop enthusiasm in students and then encourage them to contribute to Mathematical Sciences. It also aims to equip the students with necessary talents and basis for Mathematical modeling and simulations for their engineering problems. GMS plans to arrange different kind of events inside the institution which will mainly focus on its aims and objectives.
I hope that the step initiated by me will be appreciated by the GIK Institute students and that this society flourishes and progresses to the point where I see it.

It is very regretfully informed that Mr. H. U. Beg, Executive Director, Soprest is no longer among us. May God shower His blessings on his soul and give strength to his family who have suffered this loss.

| Dr. Muhammad Abid (FME) honoured |
Dr Muhammad Abid (PhD, MIMechE, PAS Gold Medalist) is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology. He has been active in industrial and research circles. He has recently written a book that has gained acclaim in related circles of engineering.
This is to announce that GIKI is proud of these achievements, and wishes him the best in his future endeavours.
1. Dr Abid was awarded the MOSS Prize 2008 by Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK for Best Applied Research in Process Industries.
2. Dr Abid was awarded Best Research Paper Award 2008 by HEC, Pakistan
3. Dr Abid published two books, both of which are now available on Amazon and other publishers:
a. Design Optimization and Analysis Techniques. ISBN-10: 363919733X. ISBN-13: 978-3639197334.
b. Potentialities of Biogas Technology. ISBN :978-3-639-14806-0.
