If you are in the waiting list then obviously you have a chance.Thats pretty much common sense.
But considering last years admissions,1600 seems a little far off.
However one has to keep believing.ANYTHING can happen!!

to be honest it is very difficult to switch your faculty to EE from CS, the only way is that there is a rule that you can change your faculty according to your wishes after the first year provided you top your faculty(i.e. CS in this case). another possible case is that you are a girl and you are the only girl in your class and you have got reasonably good gpa at the end of first year than there are chances that if you apply for faculty change, the admin will allow you. (but again good gpa is the key)

Hey... I was offerd Materials in the first list nd then Electronics in the second. Im a bit confused as to which faculty i shud choose. My interest is in materials but im not so sure abt job prospects in Pakistan for material engineers. Wudnt it be a gamble??
On the other hand, i knw that EE is one of the best faculties at GIK... Wat shud i do?

i would say that if you have interest in MSE, you should go for it. four years is one hell of a time. if something has good job market today it doesnt mean that it will remain so for the next 5 6 years and vice versa. take the example of telecommunication. btw remember this thing that only those people worry about good job market and bla bla who know that they are average or below average, because "good job market" only means that "every" (:-)) tom dick and harry will get the job if he does that particular thing and "bad job market" means that only ones who excel in their field will get the job, so have faith in your abilities and give "preference" to your preferences rather than job market thingy

Exactly. Remember: your faculty is only as good as you are! You can do some some wondrous things, as long as you want to do so. The year before last, the QA medalist was a student from MSE!

ES is a multi -dimensional field and it lets you keep your options open for the future !
