GIK Institute launches its new official website

It is the moment of pride for The GIKI Webteam to launch the new Official Website of GIK Institute, replacing the website that had been in effect since 2008. Although the website was adequate, it was due for a revamp keeping in view with the rapidly changing trends of the internet. Hence, after a break of four years, the Webteam started working again. The goal was to create a dynamic, aesthetic website that lives up to the grandeur of the great institute it represents. The task wasn’t easy. It was a laborious, tiresome and demanding job that needed masters of technical domains and graphic designing. The project to accomplish this, which was dubbed as PROJECT REVAMP 3.0, and was launched under the supervision of Director IT Dr. Ghulam Abbas. The foundation was laid in the spring 2012, when the new team was given the task to overhaul the previous website. Everything had to be worked on, from the pictures on every page to the content to the layout and the interface. This only represents the thing that are visible to the person who visits the page. Monumental changes were made to the way the site is designed and developed, bringing up to date techniques of Web designing and combining them with aesthetically pleasing visuals. Summer of 2012 saw the Webteam relentlessly working to achieve the near impossible task of getting the website ready till the start of Fall semester. But the team was motivated and when the university opened, it was just about ready for beta launch. After appropriate approvals from competent authority, the beta launch took place in October. After three months of testing phase, and gathering the inputs from students and faculty, the website is now fully launched, this is a landmark moment for the Webteam. What sets GIKI Webteam apart from other webteams around the world’s educational centres is that it is solely run by students. No help whatsoever is undertaken from external sources. No outside resources are employed. It’s a bunch of undergraduate students who are responsible for the upkeep of the institute website, this in addition to their studies and other workload. This makes this achievement all the more laudable. Indeed, GIKI is proud of its Webteam.   ...
