Final Examinations' Schedule Announced


The Institute will be fully operational from Jan 26, 2015 with Course Instructors available in their offices for consultation. All services including mess, heating, warm water, library, etc. will be available starting from Friday Jan 23, 2015. Adequate security measures to the satisfaction of the authorities are already in place and some additional arrangements are also in progress. Your safety and security is of paramount importance to us. The final examinations will be held from Wednesday Jan. 28, 2015 till Thursday Feb. 05, 2015 as per attached Finals’ Schedule.   We greatly appreciate your support, patience and understanding, and that of your families, and look forward to your return to the Institute.   Best of luck for your finals. ...

Restart of Academic Activities


While rumors and unconfirmed reports about extension in closure of educational institutions including GIK Institute have been there in abundance, we at GIK Institute take our advice from the Government.  We would like to assure you once again that we have taken a number of measures to ensure the safety and security of all our students. For this purpose, we continue to remain in touch with the government. The academic activities are set to resume from January 26, 2015. In case there is further decision, development or advice from the authorities, this will immediately be put on the Institute’s website, which the students and their parents must check regularly, rather than paying heed to innumerous rumors that continue to keep popping up on social media. The next advice, if needed, will appear on the GIK Institute website before 12:00 noon on Thursday January 22, 2015.   ...

ICT for Mountain Development Award 2014


BiSMiL Lab wins 'ICT for Mountain Development Award 2014' for the project 'Development of Geospatial Data-loggers for Monitoring Transhunamce Grazing Patterns'. The award is managed by International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development and seeks to recognize ICT-enabled innovations, good practices, and applications that help promote mountain development and environmental conservation in the Hindu Kush Himalayan (HKH) region. The awards were open to individuals or organizations that are making innovative use of ICT to promote mountain development in the HKH region. BiSMiL lab used indigenously designed and developed low-cost GPS data-loggers to study climate change impacts on grazing communities. These cost-effective, power-optimized GPS collars were used to monitor and record the seasonal herding movements in northern Pakistan. Announcing DBFC-10


We are pleased to inform you that GIKI is holding the 10th National Design, Build and Fly Competition (DBFC-10) scheduled on 24-26 April 2015; after the success of earlier nine Design, Build and Fly Competitions, held in GIKI in 2006-2014. DBFC is a nationwide competetion, organized by the GIK Institute in collaboration with STEM Careers Prgramme, a joint Venture of HEC & PIEAS. AIAA GIKI Chapter and GIK Institute through the STEM Careers Program and HEC invite undergraduate students to participate in the 10th National Design, Build & Fly Competition. The competition will provide a real world aircraft design experience for engineering students by giving them the opportunity to validate their analytic studies. Student teams will design, fabricate, and demonstrate the flight capabilities of an unmanned electric powered, radio controlled aircraft that can best meet the specified mission profile. The goal is to make a balanced design that possesses good flight handling qualities and must be practical and affordable. ...

Faisal, a final year student secured place in Youth Parliament Pakistan.


Mr. Faisal Saleh Yaqub, a final year student from Faculty of Electronic Engineering recently being elected as Secretary of Standing Committee on Education and Youth Affairs at Youth Parliament Pakistan. The committee was tasked to formulate a report that could bring a change in the education system of Pakistan. The committee selected the topic of "MADRASSA EDUCATION 2014: CHALLENGES AND REFORMS". Faisal with other committee members worked tirelessly to formulate a comprehensive report that would prove to be a stepping stone to bring about revolutionary changes in the Madrassa Education in Pakistan and help integrate Madrassa students with the mainstream education system of Pakistan.   Recently in the third session of Youth Parliament Pakistan, committee’s report was presented in front of the national media of Pakistan, published and sent to State Minister for Education, Trainings and Standards in Higher Education. The committee had the honor to visit the National Assembly of Pakistan along with other youth Parliamentarians. Speaker of National Assembly especially announced their presence and all the MNA's welcomed the youth Parliamentarians at the Assembly. The Committee also had an honor to meet Khawaja Zaheer Ahmed, Special Assistant to Prime Minister and Member Board of Governors of GIK Institute. He especially congratulated Faisal and appreciated all the good work. While addressing the committee members, he said, “I am proud of GIKI graduates as they have proved to be an asset for Pakistan”. I have become much more  aware of the socioeconomic problems and the politics of Pakistan; joining Youth Parliament Pakistan has proved to be life changing experience for me, Faisal said. ...

President SOPREST, Engr. Shams ul Mulk visit to meet the PRIDE of GIK Institute


Engr. Shams ul Mulk, Ph.D., HI, President SOPREST visited GIK Institute along with Mr. Shakil Durrani, Executive Director SOPREST and Senator Salim Saifullah Khan, Member Board of Governors. The visit was organized in honor and recognition of those students of GIK Institute who had won various awards in both national and international competitions, have been on international internships and have represented the Institute to add to its pride and achievements. Honorable President SOPREST met all the students individually, personally congratulated them on their success and delivered a motivational talk as well. Engr.
