Dr Ishfaq Ahmad presides over fresh students’ induction ceremony at GIK

Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad, former Chairman of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) presided over induction ceremony of fresh students at Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology on September 9, 2017.  GIK Institute academia and fresh students participated in the gathering. About 500 new undergraduate students from all over the country have joined different disciplines of engineering and management sciences at GIK. Shakil Durrani, Executive Director of Society for the Promotion of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Pakistan (SPOREST), Pro-Rector (Adim and Finance), Ahsan Baseer Sheikh, Deans and other academic staff attended the ceremony.

GIK Institute dedicated Faculty of Electrical Engineering to Dr Ishfaq for his distinguished services in the field of science and technology. Participants presented standing ovation to him on both occasions when he was entering and leaving the Institute auditorium.

 Dr. Ishfaq, who is member of GIK Institute Board of Governors said, “The institution which you (students) have joined offers courses of international standards. The labs are of high standard and the faculty is dedicated and qualified. 

Engr Shamul Mulk, president SPOREST said, “GIK Institute would use all available facilities to enable you (students) to became excellent engineers and play your due role in economic progress of the country.”

Jehangir Bashar, Rector GIK Institute said, “Our very competent faculty is here to teach and guide you. We are fortunate to have a faculty that is truly world class; and which is committed to the pursuit of excellence. We want you to use and enjoy the excellent facilities at GIK Institute. But we will not tolerate misuse.

Prof, Dr Javed A. Chattha, Pro-Rector (Academic) said, “We know what kind of engineers should be produced in the 21st century.”
