GIK Institute Alumni Association awards Rs 7 million of need based scholarships

The Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute Alumni Association (GIKIAA) has awarded Rs 7 million scholarships for the year 2017-18 to 17 students who are acquiring contemporary education in different disciplines of engineering at GIK Institute. The Association has been offering assistance to students who cannot afford to pay their tuition fee since 2003 in order to provide then an opportunity to get higher education.

Scholarships are strictly made available on merit basis only to needy students. Those students who have been awarded scholarships reflect due commitment to their academic progress and must maintain a CGPA of everyone must be 2.5 or above.


Rector GIK Institute, Engr. Jehangir Bashar thanked each one of the individual alumni, in Pakistan and abroad, who very generously contributed a total sum of about Rupees seven million for scholarships to GIK needy students. He said that it is most gratifying to see our old students paying back to the Institute, as they have done so often in the past. The help and goodwill of our alumni is a great source of encouragement for us. They are our true ambassadors, he said.


The Rector also appreciated the efforts of the President, GIKIAA, Mr. Irfan ul Haq, in putting together this scholarship program.
