GIK-HAINA Completes Forth Batch Training

         

 

GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Pakistan and Huawei Technologies Pakistan Pvt. Ltd signed an MoU to work together to develop a cooperative working relationship and bridge the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) knowledge and skills gap in 2017. As a results of this MoU, Huawei Authorized Information and Network Academy (HAINA) was established at GIK in September 2017, for which Huawei provided the lab equipment, software, course authorization, access to learning resources and training to instructors, while GIK contributed fully furnished classroom and lab with state-of-the-art workstations, qualified instructors, administrative support, and access to Internet, digital library and all other core facilities. Through the HAINA program, both GIK and Huawei are cooperating to support the regional ICT education, share knowledge, and build a better ICT talent eco-system. The collaboration is offering the students of GIK a greater opportunity to learn the latest industrial trends and technologies and become Huawei certified in support of their subsequent careers in the ICT industry. GIK-HAINA is currently providing trainings at the associate level in the Routing and Switching module (HCNA – R&S).

The training of the Fourth Batch of the HAINA Program started on 1st October, 2018 and has completed 28th November, 2018. A total of 18 students were trained in the Forth Batch. The contents covered in the training include, but are not limited to: 

  • Basic Network: Networks Protocol Stack Models, Transmission Medium, Network Devices.
  • OSI layers and interaction between them.
  • Design IP address schemes using Fixed Length Subnet Mask (FLSM) and Variable Length Subnet Mask (VLSM).
  • Switching: Spanning Tree Protocol, VLans, Link Aggregation, GVRP etc.
  • Routing: Static Routing Protocol, Dynamic Routing Protocols etc.
  • Setting up a site-to-site VPN.
  • Internet Protocols: DHCP, SNMP, PPP, PPPoE, FTP, Telnet, SSH protocols etc.
  • IPv6, IPv6 Routing and IPv6 Application Services.
