The GIK Institute comprises of a unique multi-disciplinary  program of Engineering Sciences preparing manpower in the ever growing emerging technologies with targets of current and near future high-tech and highly paid national and global job market in numerous areas, such as, (i) microelectronics, (ii) computational modeling of devices and systems, (iii) laser manufacturing, (iv) optical fiber networks, (v) renewable energy, (vi) photonics, (vii) engineering instrumentation and control, (viii) financial engineering,  (ix) embedded systems, (x) engineering system simulations, (xi) Internet of Things (IoT), etc.

Also, the Engineering Science Program includes the core courses from the basic sciences and the electrical engineering, computer science, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, etc. The program is recognized by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) for the award of BS engineering degree.

The faculty is equipped with a large number of teaching and research labs. It is worth mentioning that the FES faculty has published large number of research papers in journals of international repute, produced many MS & PhDs and has been awarded substantial amounts for the national and international research projects, such as, Pak-US and Pak-Turk Joint projects.

 

Some of our students are serving in key positions in national and multi-nationals both in Pakistan and abroad. Many of the FES students have been awarded scholarships from abroad for doing MS and PhD degrees. After completion of their degrees, most of these are offered highly paid jobs abroad in high-tech research and industrial organizations.

For the students of KPK, there are two scholarships, offered by the KPK governement for doing BS in Engineering Sciences in Photonics Engineering.

RESEARCH GROUP, SELECTED NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH COLLABORATORS:

Organic Electronics and Photonics Research Group

The group has produced the largest number of PhD students in numerous multi-disciplinary areas in the history of the GIK Institute. The Organic Electronics and Advanced Photovoltaic Research Labs established by the group are providing training to nationwide training to academia and industry in advance organic electronic and photonic technologies. The group of “Organic Electronics and Photonics” performs research in (i) Green Photonics, Printed Photonics, (ii) the computational design and synthesis of organic semiconductors, quantum dots, nanoparticles, and nanocomposites, (iii) characterization of various types of optical and electronic properties, (iv) the design and fabrication of  organic electronic and photonic devices, such as, junction diodes, transistors, memories, sensors, next-generation solar cells, (v) design and development of next-generation solar cell technology based solar panels, etc. The group is composed of a strong team of researchers from fields of electronic engineering, materials engineering, physics and chemistry. The Organic Electronics and Photonics Research Group (i) is equipped with state-of-the-art research facilities for the fabrication and characterization of organic electronic and photonic devices, (ii) possesses licensed Gaussian and ADF Codes for performing TDDFT calculations, and (iii) has large number of national and international collaborations.
